JAMMU, Mar 22: A top militant and close associate of Hizbul Mujahideen Pir Panchal Regiment (HMPPR) superemo was arrested Sunday night from a hideout at Hansoo Wali Gali, which falls on the boundary of Rajouri and Reasi districts.
Official sources said acting on a tip-off, police and army troops raided a hideout of HMPPR chief Abdullah Inqalabi at Hansoo Wali Gali late last night.
Though Inqalabi was missing, his close associate and top militant Wazir Hussain was taken into custody by the troops. He was immediately whisked away to some unknown place where his sustained interrogation was in progress, the sources added.
Two grenades and some literature of the HMPPR outfit were recovered from the hideout.
Sources said Hussain was working with Inqalabi, a Pakistani militant, for the past over eight years. Some vital clues about HMPPR activities in the area were expected at his instance, the sources added. |
