| Walkout over 'Unsatisfactory' reply | | |

JAMMU, Mar 22: Infuriated over the "unsatisfactory" reply, the legislators of opposition parties comprising Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and Jammu State Morcha (JSM) today staged a walk out from the Lower House of State Legislature.
On a question of BJP MLA from Suchetgarh, Sham Choudhary regarding conducting of fresh survey of BPL families in the State, the Opposition MLAs got infuriated following the remarks of Minister In charge Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo that the question pertains to the Food and Supplies Department.
Harsh Dev Singh, Leader of Panthers Legislature Party said, "As you said it is the collective responsibility of the Government to make suitable reply, how can the Minister backtracks from this." Though the Speaker tried to pacify the agitating MLAs saying "she is not correct", yet the members shouted slogans like "Garib Virodhi Sarkar, BPL survey par Javab Kon Dega."
Ashwani Kumar Sharma said, "Social Welfare Department Mein Garibon Ka Shoshan Ho Raha Hai" (Poor are being exploited by the Social Welfare Department." Later, all the members staged walkout from the House. |
