| Artificial lake to come up on river Tawi | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 22: An artificial lake is being built on the dry bed of river Tawi in Jammu, the state Assembly was informed today.
"The state government is building an artificial lake on the dry bed of river Tawi for which Rs 25 crore has been earmarked already. The 13th Finance Commission has awarded a grant of additional Rs 25 crore for project," flood control and irrigation minister Taj Mohideen said during a discussion on the demand of grants for the department today.
The check dam will come up on 100 metre dry bed area of the river spread over one km from Nikkitawi to Nagrota.
He said 460 water supply schemes (WSS) are ready for operation in the state which would provide the facility of drinking water supply to nine lakh people. |
