| Vaishno Devi pilgrim killed in landslide | | |

Jammu, Mar 23: Three days after a woman pilgrim fell into a gorge at Adh-Kunwari en route to the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and died, another woman died in a landslide at Himkoti today. Police sources said Maya Devi (50) was on her way to the holy cave shrine along with her family members when a mass of earth and rocks came sliding down the side of the hill and hit her, resulting in her instant death.
She hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Sources said she was killed because a rock hit her on the head. Her body was shifted by police to Katra hospital from where after post-mortem, it was handed over to her
family members for last rites. Police had registered a case in this connection. On Saturday last, a woman was killed after she had slipped into a gorge at Adh-Kunwari.
Only two days back, Vinay Kumar of Meerut had tried to end his life by slitting his throat at Adh-Kunwari. |
