| Lovers commit suicide on way to Vaishno Devi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 23: In a suicide pact, a youth and a newly married woman ended their lives by allegedly consuming poison en route to the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Monday night. Kamaldeep Kour (24) of village Maski in Moga, Punjab, had an affair with her neighbour Devinder Singh (20), a labourer by profession, according to police sources. However, her family members married her to one Gurdip Singh of Bilaspur, Punjab, a month or so back against her wishes, the sources added. As they were in love, they fled homes few days back and came to Jammu to have darshans of Mata Vaishno Devi. Sources said both of them were found lying unconscious by some pilgrims at Hathi Matha on way to the holy cave shrine at about 8 pm on Monday. The pilgrims removed them to a nearby dispensary where they were pronounced brought dead by the doctors. Sources said they had allegedly committed suicide by consuming posion. Search of Devinder's pocket led cops to the recovery of a diary on which some telephone numbers were written. Cops called up one of the numbers which turned out to be of his relatives. The families of Devinder and Kamaldeep reached Katra today. After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to their family members for last rites. The Katra police had registered a case in this connection. |
