| China has no right to favour Kashmir settlement as per peoples'wishes | | |
When the chairman All Party Hurriyat Conference,Molvi Umar Farooq met,a Chinese delegation, led by Direcror Foreign Affairs,Ying Gang, in Geneva on the sidelines of the 13th UN Human Rights session the other day it was for the first time that a chinese official had a session with any Kashmiri separatist leader.Knowing fully well that the relations between India and China were not cordial still the Maulana found time to meet the Chinese leader simply to give vent to his anger over inordinate delay on the part of Delhi in resuming dialogue with the APHC leaders. It is interesting that during his stay in Geneva Molvi Umar Farooq has left no stone unturned in meeting various political leaders and those connected with the human rights and during these meetings the Maulana has been simply harping on human rights violations in Kashmir by the Indian security forces. It is not known whether for substantiating his charge against the Indian security forces Molvi Umar did not refer to the none too old incident of rape and murder of two women in Shopian. He may not have dared to do so because after a detailed investigation by the sleuths of the CBI the mystery behind the rape and morder of the two women in Shopian had been resolved which had caused deep ambarrassment to those who had joined hands to pass on the responsibility of the murder of the two women on the shoulders of the security forces. It is not also clear whether Ying Gang was made wiser on the basics of the Kashmir issue and the need for the resumption of the Indo-Pak dialogue. It seems so because Ying Gang, according to a statement issued by the All Party Hurriyat Conference, told the Maulana that there was need for resolving the Kashmir issue as per the wishes of the people. He had also informed Molvi Umar that there was also the need for the resumption of Delhi-Islamabad talks.Since Molvi Umar wanted this sort of statement from the Chinese leader there was no need for the Kashmiri separatist leader to ask Ying Gang whether the Chinese Government had respected the wishes of the millions of the Tibetians. Ying Gang needs to be reminded whether Beijing's forcible occupation of Tibet was not a violation of human rights when the Tibetians, since 1951,were deprived of their religious, political and fundamntal rights it was a case of worst ever human rights violations. And reports reveal that by now over one million people in Tibet have been killed and many have gone missing. This way China has no locus standi to talk of resolving the Kashmir issue as per the wishes of the people.China has lost this right after Beijing started claiming that the entire Arunachal Pradesh state was part of China. In fact even after the Indo-Sino war of 1962 the latest conflict between the two sides is over Arunachal Pradesh.By claiming ownership of the state China was trying to scuttle the aspirations of the people of Arunachal. After Beijing tried to toughen its stand on Arunachal people of this pradesh have boycotted purchasing Chinese goods. They have,on a number of occasions, demonstrated their anti-Chinese feelings.Despite this it is irony of fate that Ying Gang should support Kashmir settlement as per the wishes of its people.Of late the Kashmiri separatists are trying to befriend what may be called "enemy's enemy" because these separatists have been trying to hobnob with Islamabad and Beijing. This is nothing but a manifestation of their political frustration.
