| Discrimination aimed at hurting interests of Jammuites: BJP | | |

JAMMU, Mar 24: State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that National Conference led coalition government is adopting discriminatory attitude toward Jammu at all levels. Speaking at a function organised to distribute sewing machines among needy women of Sarwal area, BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas criticized the coalition government for its discriminatory moves towards Jammu which are aimed at hurting the interests of the Jammuites. Manhas said that the motive behind giving sewing machines to the poor women is to make them self-employed and self-dependent as they will be in a position to use it for earning their own bread. On the occasion, Shamsher Singh Manhas along with Leader of BJP Legislature Party in the State Assembly Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and former Mayor Kavinder Gupta, distributed 50 sewing machines among the poor and needy women.
The function was organized by former Corporator Dinesh Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that the NC-Congress coalition has least concern for the poor belonging to Jammu and it is giving preferential treatment to valley in all matters and at all levels. He charged the government of misleading the people by providing wrong information regarding exact number of BPL families in the state.
Gupta said while it claims of 21 per cent of population under BPL, it receives ration for 42 per cent under the said quota from the centre. He also expressed deep concern over the unplanned and poor sewerage system in Jammu city which is resulting into pollution of holy river Tawi.
In his address, Kavinder Gupta, said that the BJP headed the JMC for three terms and he being the Mayor, worked day and night to ensure that the city bears a new look and basic amenities are available in every area.
He expressed hope that the people will once again repose faith in BJP and return at least 50 corporators to the JMC so that it is in a position to take public-centric decisions without any hindrances and pressures. |
