| Over 4,000 kg poppy seized | | | Early Times Report JAMMU: Over 4,100 kg of poppy straw was seized by excise and police authorities in Jammu and Kashmir in last two months. Increased vigilance by police and excise department led to the seizure of 4,171 kg of poppy straw in seven different incidents, finance minister Abdul Rahim said in an official release. He said 1,000 kg of poppy straw was recovered from a truck on February 20 at Lakhanpur toll post, while 180 kg of the banned drug was seized on February 28. 875 kg of poppy was recovered from a truck in Kashmir on March 2 followed by recovery of 1,500 kg and 600 kg of the contraband at Lakhanpur on the same day.
