| Gani urges cong workers gear up for municipal, panchayat elections | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 25: The J&K Congress Seva Dal organized a function on the celebration of 125th foundation day of Congress party here today. Balwinder Singh Sambyal presided over the function. Addressing the party workers Congress leader and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil made a clarion call to the party workers to gear up for the forth coming panchayat and municipal elections in J&K. He also called upon the party workers to ensure greater public participation and victory of coalition supported candidates in these polls. He said that panchayati raj was an epoch-making concept of late Rajiv Gandhi who wanted to devolve power upto the grassroot level among the people. He recalled landmark achievements of the Azad led government in the state may it be creation of district, implementation of Roshni scheme, Haj house, Tulip Gardens, Yatri Niwas, Assembly house, triple shift working on priority projects, principles of accountability and work culture, beside improved health care, drinking water, education, power and recreational facilities in the state. Speaking on the occasion Ex MP Janak Raj Gupta and Sr. Congress leader was having all praise for the performance and role of Omar led coalition government in J&K on the front of preventing human rights violation in the state. He further said in the history of J&K only two chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah have showed no leniency or mercy in dealing which perpetrators of human rights violations, whosoever they may be. The meeting was also addressed by general secretaries of PCC Vinod Sharma, Hansraj Bhagat, Santosh Mangotra, Jugal Kishore, Vipin Nischal, Khurshid Misger, Ved Bhagat etc.
