Seminar on 'Semiconductor Nanomaterials and Devices' held

Jammu , Mar 25: The Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu (JU) today organized a seminar on "Semiconductor Nanomaterials and Devices" under the SAP-DRS programme of Physics.
The seminar was inaugurated by the Dean Academic Affairs, Prof N A Ganai. He lauded the organizers for their initiative to choose a topic of great significance.
He stressed the need for national policies to monitor the technological advancement of this challenging area of research. He added the present activity a first of its king in this lending area of research.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr Harsh, Associate Director, Solid State Physics Laboratory, Delhi. He highlighted the impact of Nanotechnology in the areas of Environmental Protection, Electronics, Medical Sciences, Energy Generation and exclaimed the seminar a stepping stone for the promotion of Nanotechnology.
In his address, Prof Naresh Padha, Coordinator DRS and organizer of seminar, explained the motivation for selecting the theme and highlighted the impact of Nanotechnology in the field of Physical as well as Biological Sciences.
The main speakers of the seminar included Dr Harsh, Prof Mushahid Hussain from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and Prof R M Mehra, Prof Emeritus, Sharda University.
Nearly 150 participants comprising faculty members and research scholars from various Universities of the State and affiliated colleges attended the seminar.
Later, all the participants were given participation certificates. The programme was conducted by Ms Usha Parihar and the vote of thanks delivered by Er Anik Gupta.
