Early Times Report JAMMU, March 25: Foiling their bids to smuggle bovine animals, police Thursday arrested two persons along with 29 cattle in two incidents on the national highway in Kathua and Udhampur. Police sources said two trucks (JK02Q/5097and JK02AA/1405), intercepted by cops at Lakhanpur, were found loaded with 18 milch animals, which were being smuggled from Punjab to Kashmir. While all the occupants of the two trucks, including their drivers, managed to give cops a slip, the vehicles were seized. Another truck (5902/JK14A) was seized at Dharuntal in Udhampur after police discovered that 11 animals were being smuggled in it. Its driver Manzoor Rather of Seri, Ramban, and conductor Sanjay Kumar of Haldwoo, Batote, were arrested and booked under relevant sections of law.
