| No clue to whereabouts of infiltrators | | | Early Times Report JAMMU: On Day 3, combing of every inch of the Jogwan forests at Pallanwala in Akhnoor was carried out by security forces to hunt down the infiltrators, but they remained untraced today too. The eight odd heavily-armed militants had sneaked into the Indian territory from Saryala Nullah in Jogwan Tuesday last, breaching the "tight" security on the Line of Control (LoC). Searches, which started Tuesday, were suspended Wednesday evening after darkness descended on the LoC areas, but cordons and ambushes were laid in the whole of Jogwan, especially on the routes linking it with the main Akhnoor towns. As the day broke Thursday, army and police got on to their work of combing the forests, but the day yielded no results today also. Official sources said the troops were now gradually heading towards Sunderbani hills as several dirt-tracks and pony-tracks connected Jogwan with Sunderbani in Rajouri. Sources said it was quite possible that the infiltrators had a local guide who was well-versed with all routes leading outside Jogwan. Some locals were also questioned, but they could not provide any clue to the movement of infiltrators. There was no report of any suspect having been taken into custody by the troops. The group of eight odd infiltrators was sighted by eight Jogwan inhabitants, including three women and two girls, in Saryala Nullah in the village in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Combing of the Jogwan forests continued today also from dawn till dusk. Though searches would resume Friday morning, cordons and ambushes were intact. A red alert was already sounded in the whole of Akhnoor tehsil where people had been asked to immediately contact army or police in case they came across any suspicious movement in their area. he infiltrators wore Pathan suits and carried bags on their shoulders. In 2003 or so also, a group of seven militants had disappeared after infiltrating from Jogwan. All of them were spotted by troops after over a week of infiltration in a Bakkerwal's hut in the area and killed in a gunbattle.
