| Awareness training programme on beekeeping | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 26: A day long awareness cum training programme on beekeeping was organised at University adopted village Chakshian, Maralia, sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research New Delhi under the HTMM-1 project Investigations into honeybee diseases and their management organized by the Division of Entomology, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences & Technology, here today under Vice Chancellor Prof. B. Mishra. More than 30 progressive farmers participated in the programme. Professor and Head, Division of Entomology Dr. D.P. Abrol highlighted the importance of the beekeeping for increasing productivity and providing employment to the unemployed youth. He emphasised the farmers to adopt beekeeping to increases their income resources. He expressed satisfaction that beekeeping is being well adopted in the country for increasing crop productivity, besides also gave practical demonstration on the establishment of the apiary. The farmer express great satisfaction and requested the University to organise such programmes at regular intervals. The other scientist of the Division who deliberated upon various aspects of beekeeping included Prof. Rirender Kaul, Dr. Uma Shankar and Dr. Devinder Sharm, Kamrade Satpal and Sardar Balbinder Singh.
