| Off-licenses controversy, HC directs EC to accept license fee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar, 26: Justice Sunil Hali of J&K High Court in a bunch of writ applications directed Excise Commissioner Jammu to accept the license fee from the applicants for the year 2010-2011 for running their vends. The allotment of the license in favour of the petitioner is subject matter of challenged before the High Court in various writ petitions which are pending for the last five years and respondents are not accepting license fees from them, in view of the fact that litigation is pending in the Court. The litigation is pending for the last five years and a direction is sought to be given to the respondents for accepting the license fee. Upon this Advocate appearing for the respondents stated that he has not objection, in case a direction is given to excise commissioner to accept the license fee from the petitioners. Justice Sunil Hali after hearing battery of lawyers appearing for the petitioners directed Excise Commissioner Jammu to accept the license fee from the applicants for the year 2010-2011. However, this shall not confer any right upon the petitioners for seeking license in their favour and also directed the registry to list the main petition for final disposal on April 19, 2010. With these directions Court disposed of all the application seeking direction to the excise commissioner. --JNF
