Early times Report JAMMU, Mar 26: The state vigilance organisation (SVO) today produced challan against a finance department accountant in a corruption case in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Srinagar. The challan was produced against Abdul Ahad Rather of Drusu, Pulwama, under section 5(1)(e) read with 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and sections 109, 420 and 471 of RPC. At the time of registration of case against him, he was Ist bn of auxilary police.The case was registered on receipt of an information that Rather, by allegedly indulging in corrupt and illegal practices, had acquired wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.During the investigation, the accused was found in possession of huge property in the shape of a commercial complex at Dangerpora, Pulwama, a two-storey house at Drusu, land at Kadalbal, Pampore, huge cash and golden ornaments. In the course of investigation, it was found that the accused had resorted to manipulation of records and prepared false and forged affidavit regarding advance rent amounting to Rs 13 lakh to conceal illicit origin of property. The persons, who were found have facilitated the preparation of false and forged affidavit, included Javaid Ahmad Rather of Drusu, Naseer Ahmad Wani of Chewa, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat of Chewa Kallan, Zahoor Ahmad Itoo of Chewa Kallan, Mohammad Huss-ain Bhat of Gosh, Moham-mad Maqbool Pandit of Athoora and a son of the accused.The investigation revealed that the accused had accumulated disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 36,71,552. The Court, after entertaining the challan, fixed the next date of hearing on May 4.
