| Blast rocks Bafliaz, VDC men survive | | | POONCH: At least six village defence committee (VDC) members had a providential escape Friday morning as minutes after their vehicle crossed a road stretch at Bafliaz in Poonch, a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blast rocked the area. Police sources said the IED, fitted in the roadside bushes on the Bafliaz-Tararan Wali link road, exploded at about 9 am. Sources said a vehicle carrying VDC members had crossed the area minutes before the blast. It seemed as if the IED had been fitted to blow up VDC members' vehicle, the sources added. The blast, however, caused no damage to life and property of the people. Police and army reached the spot soon after the blast occured. They carried out searches in the area, but there was no report of any suspect having been rounded up by them. A case in this connection stands registered at the concerned police station.
