Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohmmad Sagar introuced the bills seeking enhancement of salary of the Chief Minister from Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000, that of cabinet ministers from Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 and that of ministers of state, deputy ministers and MLAs from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 sumptuary. The bill also seeks to enhance constituency/conveyance allowance from Rs 15,000 to 22,000 and telephone allowance from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,300 and medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000. The other Bill pertains to amend the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members' Pension Act, 1984 ( L. A. Bill NO. 13 of 2010). Necessary amendments are proposed in sub-section (1) of section 3 also to remove the condition of having served as a Member for a period of two years for entitlement to pension. As the proposed legislation entitles a Member to pension irrespective of the period, the Bill seeks to delete sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Act which provides for determination of period and term.
