| NSUI protests JKBOSE's faulty examination system | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 27: National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest demonstration against the faulty examination system of Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKOSE) here today.
Led by Fairoz Khan, State General Secretary, protesting NSUI (J&K) activists along with a large number of students gathered in front of the office of Chairman, (JK BOSE) and torched his effigy.
Shouting slogans against Board authorities, the students gheraoed the office of the chairman and there after burned his effigy.
Addressing the agitated gathering, Fairoz Khan criticized the authorities at the helm of board affairs. He alleged that the authorities have failed to exercise their duties properly. This can be well understood from the fact that cases of mass copying have increased tremendously.
NSUI leader said that even after the cases of mass copying and paper leakage are being reported in media, the authorities have been unable to pose a check over the whole scenario.
He also added that in a case in Marwah area of Kishtwar, where a case of mass copying had come to fore and a duty superintendent had been suspended, but the guilty official had till date not received the suspension order.
Also expressing his concern over the recent leak of paper of Chemistry B of 12th class, he said that the authorities have made a mockery of the process. Only changing the paper for district Jammu, the authorities have allowed the same paper, which was leaked, to be circulated in other districts clearly indicating a nexus between the authorities and the people involved in the leakage of question papers.
Khan demanded immediate cancellation of leaked paper and an inquiry into the matter. He also demanded a proper check on the process of engaging exam superintendents and staff so that the menace of copying is curbed and the hard working students get their dues.
Addressing the gathering, Rajveer Singh Manhas said that if the authorities don't pay heed to the demands of the agitating students, then this protest shall be brought to the streets and the authorities at the helm of affairs shall be responsible for any consequences.
