| Basic trg programme for skill upgradation conclude | | | Early Times Report Leh, Mar 27: A five day basic training programme for skill up-gradation in general for home stay service providers of Sku-Markha area of Leh district concluded here the other day. The programme was organized by the tourism department, 78 service providers who came from various far off villages like Sku¬markha, hinkar, umlung, chilling sumda, Rumbagh, rumchunk, Jingchan etc participated. The Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Ajeet Kumar Sahu was the Chief guest on the valedictory function. Others who attended the valedictory function included Councilor Sku-markha and former Chief Executive Councilor, Leh Regzin Spalbar, Conservator of Forest Leh Jigmet Takpa, Chief Executive Officer, Leh Dev. Authority T.Muroop, Block Medical Officer, Norphel. During the training programme, the resource persons educated the participants about the importance of home stay in the area, Importance of cleanliness and hygiene, way side amenities, house keeping, historical importance of the area, tourism management, rural sanitation, practical training in food cooking etc. While speaking at the function, the deputy commissioner Sahu said that imparting of basic training to the service providers relating to the tourism activities was promised with the people of Sku¬markh during his visit to the area in the month of September. 2009 Pointing some demands, Sahu said that from next year funds would be provided under Eco-tourism and construction of bathroom which is under progress at Kaya will be completed soon and solar geyser will also be provided. He appreciated the efforts of Tourism department for holding such basic skill for up-gradation adding that such training programme will be organized in Nobra valley in future. Councilor, Sku-markha R Splabar, in his address said that such basic training should be imparted earlier to the people as no basic training has been conducted but the people extending their service without any training for the last about 20 years, which was very important. Earlier, ADT, Leh Nasir Hussain while presenting the welcome address and gave a brief resume of the training programme and highlighted the importance of adventure tourism, trekking etc.
