| Deptt of Buddhist Studies, JU organises lecture | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 27:
Department of Buddhist Studies, Jammu University (JU) today organized a special talk by Venerable Sanghasena, President, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh on the theme “MEDITATION IN DAILY LIFE”. Addressing the students and scholars from various teaching departments and people from the civil society, Ven. Sanghasena emphasized on the meaning and concept of meditation in general and Buddhist way of meditation in particular. He said that mind plays a significant role in making and shaping of the personality. It is mind because of which a person acts in a particular manner and creates interests in various things and objects, which ultimately results in suffering particularly when desires remain unfulfilled. So to tame mind is desirable and meditation helps on this venture. He called upon the youth to practice meditation daily even for a short while. Delivering his remarks, Prof Baidyanath Labh stressed upon the necessity of meditation to make mind pure and tension free and also to develop concentration towards studies and achieving higher objectives in life. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Randeep Singh Parihar, Assistant Professor in the department, whereas the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Suresh Kumar, Research Scholar. Prominent among others who participated include Dr Sonam Wangchuk, Assistant Director, Physical Education Jammu University and Venerable Surasak Suramuni.
