| No secret talks with New Delhi: Mirwaiz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 27: Putting all speculations to rest, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has said the conglomerate was not holding secret talks with New Delhi. Mirwaiz was addressing a press conference in the summer capital Saturday. Replying a question on secret dialogue, Mirwaiz said the conglomerate was not in touch with New Delhi for the past two months. "Some developments had taken place earlier at various levels but now nothing tangible is happening", he said. Expressing satisfaction over his tour of Saudia Arabia and Europe, Mirwaiz said the situation at the international level warrants resolution of the `long pending dispute' in a phased manner. Mirwaiz urged the `Indian media' to perceive Jammu Kashmir in its right perspectives. "The media should stop linking the issue to Pakistan", he said. "Successive governments in India have been ignoring the sensitivity of the issue. When the volcano explodes, New Delhi starts thinking about Kashmir", he said. Accusing the government of India of behaving like an ostrich, Mirwaiz urged the Indian civil society to impress upon New Delhi to take tangible measures for resolution of the dispute. Mirwaiz appealed to the political parties in India to shun what he called arrogance and accept ground realities viz-a-viz Jammu Kashmir. "I appeal all pro-freedom organizations to unite for the sake of cause. Pakistan and India are independent countries and forget their bitterness for the betterment of their people. If they can unite, there is no reason for the leadership to segregate", he said. Mirwaiz also hinted at Chinese intervention for resolution of the dispute.
