| Bill to restrict SAC's jurisdiction | | | JAMMU: A bill was today tabled in J&K assembly by the government to restrict the jurisdiction of the State Accountability Commission (SAC) to deal with corruption cases against ministers including the chief minister and legislators. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar introduced the bill in Legislative Assembly to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Commission Act, 2002. At present, the SAC has jurisdiction to probe charges against public servants also. Besides, the bill seeks to include advisors to the Governor/Chief Minister, advisors to the government and the chairmen of the statutory corporations and autonomous bodies in the jurisdiction of SAC. It also seeks that the commission shall enquire only definite cases of corruption and shall not entertain general public grievances.
