| Electricity Bill introduced in LA | | | JAMMU: State Government today tabled Electricity Bill in the state assembly which focuses on major reforms in the power sector, particularly to encourage the participation of private entrepreneurs.
Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today introduced the bill which seeks to consolidate laws relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity and taking measures conducive to development of electricity industry.
The Bill also seeks to protect interest of consumers and supply of electricity to all areas, rationalisation of electricity tariff, ensuring transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies, constitution of state Electricity Regulatory commission and for matters connected therewith.
