| Mahavir Jayanti celebrated with religious fervour | | Bhalla asks people to follow teachings of Lord Mahavir | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 28: 2609th birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir was celebrated with great fervor and gaiety at Jammu here today. The main function was held at Jain Hall, Vimal Muni Road, Rani Park Jammu. Large number of people participated in the function and paid floral tributes to the Great Lord. Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion. MLA Jammu East Constituency Ashok Khajuria presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister while felicitated the people of the state, especially Jain community said that the teachings of Lord Mahavir help us to live a life of happiness and contentment. He said that Mahavir Jayanti reminded the eternal message and teaching of peaceful co-existence of mankind as a whole, doing away with the social boundaries of caste, creed and religion. The Minister called upon the people to follow the path shown by this great Lord for living a peaceful and prosperous life. Bhalla congratulated the Jain Community on the auspicious day of Mahavir Jayanti and paid the floral tributes to Ahimsa Avtar Bhagwan Mahavir. The Minister also sought the blessing of Manoj Muni Ji Maharaj who happened to be present in the function. On the occasion, the students of Shri Mahavir Jain Higher Secondary School, Jain Taruni Mandal, Shraman Sangh, Jain Dharmik Pathshala, highlighted the teachings and life of Bhagwan Mahavir through cultural programme. The Minister appreciated the performances of the students who participated in the cultural programmes and distributed the prizes among the participants and students. MLA Ashok Khajuria said that Lord Mahavir showed the path to salvation through love, compassion, forgiveness, non-violence and renunciation of materialistic desire. Manoj Muni Ji Maharaj delivered the sermons and apprised the audience of the preaching of Lord Mahavir like Satya, Ahimsa etc which is need of the hour. President, S S Jain Sabha Virender Jain and President S. S. Jain Sabha, Gandhi Nagar, Ravinder Jain honoured the guests. A memorandum was submitted to the Minister by the President, S S Jain Sabha.
