| Raina gets "Bold & Courageous Correspondent" award | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 28: The Incharge, Regional News Unit, Radio Kashmir Jammu, RK Raina has been awarded the Bold and Courageous Correspondent Annual Akashvani Award-2008. The award was presented by the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S. Jagathrak-shakan at a glittering function in Chennai on March 26.
By bagging the prestigious National Award, RK Raina, an Indian Information Officer, has got the distinction of becoming the first officer in the history of Radio Kashmir Jammu to get a National Level Award thereby bringing laurels not only to the Regional News Unit of Jammu but to the entire Radio Kashmir, Jammu.
He has received this award, for his outstanding reporting in the year 2008 particularly for the timely and crucial coverage during 65 days long unprecedented Amarnath Land Row which had paralysed normal life in Jammu Division.
Despite tremendous pressure, Raina worked single handedly without succumbing to pressure from certain quarters and covered the events during the Amarnath agitation fearlessly and boldly not only for local Gojri and Dogri bulletins but for National News Bulletins of All India Radio in Various languages viz English, Hindi, Urdu and Kashmiri without any failure.
The Award carries a Trophy, a Certificate and a Cash Award of Rs 10,000.
