| The Conflict" to witness clash of titans | | | SIDDHARTH EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 27: The two best actors of the region are scheduled to lock horns over a conflict that is going to be different and somehow innovative and new to Jammu and Kashmir's theatrical demeanor. Never ever a move has been initiated by the working theatrists or drama performers of the state to undertake a performance that would originate from a matrix of environs of a restaurant and would result into the clash of titans over a sensitive subject of infidelity. The Best Actor awardee of State Academy for 2009-10 Vikram Sharma and the Best Actor awardee for 2008-09 Himanshu Darshan would enact on the English adaptation of Surinder Varma's Marnoprant done by Vikram Sharma as "The Conflict" before a select audience at K L Saigal Hall given a facelift for an ambience of a restaurant where the two actors show in among the crowd and debate on the issue. Probably for the first time on the state's theatrical history that an effort is being envisaged on the pattern of 'intimate theatre' where the public of a restaurant would be the audience as participating actors who would feel the nuance of an artistic dexterity of an actor generating closer to him or her to produce the novelty in the theatrical idioms. "Since I have worked with both the artists on the stage and I know their boundless capabilities that could turn any table in their favour, this concept of two actors walking into a restaurant and producing theatrical milieu would be a treat to watch," said Neha Lahotra, the Best Actress awardee of the State Academy. Being first of its kind in dramatics, and that too in English, the upcoming show though being heavily loaded with some uncertainties, yet its admirers have a confidence in the artists and the team behind to successfully come up with the flying colours. "Since one of the actors is a best actor award recipient of the Academy for an English play performed in the recently concluded Drama Competition, the risk factor somehow dilutes to greater extents. And the other already an accomplished stage performer having unending chain of successes to his credit, "The Conflict" is all set to make an indelible history in intimate theatre of Jammu," said Dr Sanjay Gupta, lecturer, Jammu University and the recipient of four times best Director Award of the State Academy. " The Conflict", produced by Odeon Odyssey for promoting 'Theatre of Convenience' as envisaged by Vikram Sharma is conceptualized, designed and Directed by a young upcoming Director Vikas whose attempt is maiden and praiseworthy. The play is being presented by Shivani Cultural Society and would be held at K L Saighal Hall on Tuesday, March 30th at 7 p.m. in observation of World Theatre Day celebrations.
