| Congress adds 2 lakh members in Jammu region | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 28:A team of All India Congress Committee (AICC) comprising Tajdar Babbar, Ex-Minister and Member Central Election Authority (CEA), AP Sethi, Ex-MP and Member Election Authority (CEA) and Assistant Pradesh Returning Officer (APRO) Sukhvinder Singh 'Sukhu' visited Jammu to review the membership drive of the Congress party. Interacting with media persons at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters here today APRO Sukhvinder Singh along with PCC General Secretary, Spokesperson and MLC Ravinder Sharma informed that the team reviewed the progress of the membership drive and enrolment of members at each booth level and contesting delegates. Sukhvinder said, "Around 2 lakh members have been added to the Congress fold in Jammu division as per the tentative figures. Out of two lakh new members, scrutiny and compilation of 1.61 membership forms has been completed and the examination of remaining forms would be over soon." Giving district wise break-up of the members registered in Jammu region, he said, "In Jammu (Rural) 61,254 new members were inducted, in Jammu (Rural) 8,139 new members were added while Poonch recorded 12,200, Rajouri 15,025, Kathua 8,125, Udhampur 14,300, Reasi 3,405, Samba 10,225, Kishtwar 4,100 and Doda accounted for 18,832 new entrants to Congress." Sukhu said that a record membership has been done and around five thousand delegates have deposited fee in Jammu province. He said that District Scrutiny Committees have almost completed the process of screening the membership in each District and now the process of election of delegates at each booth level, constitution of Block Committees, District Committees and PCC member is being undertaken. The Committee will visit Srinagar tomorrow morning to review the process of membership in Kashmir province.
