EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 28: Special Police Officer (SPO), Ram Raj of Jammu Zone clinched gold in the 21 kilometer Half Marathon event in athletics on the second day of the six-day Inter-Zone Sports Meet of Jammu and Kashmir Police underway at different venues, here today.
Second place in Half Marathon again went to Jammu zone with another SPO, Ravi Singh finishing second. Third place was bagged by Ct. Mohd Yasin of Training zone.
In other team events, first round competitions took place today with winning teams making it into the semi-finals stages.
However, in hockey both the matches ended in walkovers with opponents failing to report the venue at University of Jammu. While Training Zone awarded walkover Auxiliary zone, Jammu Zone got walkover Kashmir Zone. Other two teams already there in the semi-finals are Intesect and defending champions, Armed Zone by virtue of there being last years finalists.
Earlier, before the start of the competitions, Inspector General of Armed Police and organizing secretary of the Sports Meet, Dilbag Singh, personally visited the venues of the competition to see into the arrangements.

WEIGHTLIFTING: In men's weightlifting competition, held at Gulshan grounds here, Armed zone lifters topped the points tally securing two gold in nine different weight categories decided today.
