| Jora reviews PDD works under PM’s reconstruction programme | | | Srinagar, October 13 – Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora took a review meeting of Power Development Department works being executed under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan here today. Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed for accelerating the pace of work to achieve the desired results by way of completion of the grid stations and associate Transmission Lines so that the people of the state get benefited by the programme. The Minister directed the officers of the department to arrange funds through Rural Electrification Corporation for left over schemes including 132/33 KV Grid Stations Lisser, Kokarnag, Bandipora and Shopian. The Minister directed the engineers for expeditious removal of faults so that power supply to the consumers is provided as per schedule. He asked the engineers to remain extra vigilant in view of holy month of Ramadan and ensure smooth power supply to the consumers with minimal power cuts on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, Shabi-e-Qader, Jamat-ul-Vida and Id-ul-Ftir. He also called for strengthening monitoring mechanism so that ground functionaries of the department are activated for timely undertaking the repair works of distribution lines and removing faults therefrom. The meeting was informed that due to price escalation, all the Grid Stations envisaged in the programme can not be completed, although the efforts are being made to get additional funds for left over projects under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme. Among others, the meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer M&RE Mr. Nissar Hussain, Chief Engineer System Operation Mr. A. R. Guru and other senior engineers of the department.
