| JU teams win TEDS 2010 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 28: The state's first Tourism Entrepreneurship Development Summit (TEDS) 2010 -A Business Plan Competition jointly organized by Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), University of Jammu, Jammu concluded today.The team from The Business School, University of Jammu comprising Aditi Bakshi, Anjali Pathania, Asma Hamal and Mohit Gupta were declared the winners of TEDS 2010 and won the first prize of Rs 5000. The team of School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu comprising Madhupal Singh and Priyanka Sharma were declared second and won the second prize of Rs 3000. The team comprising Preety Kohli, Swati Sharma, Sonia Bharti and Aman Khajuria from School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Jammu University were declared third and won the cash prize of Rs 2000. During the two-day event, a total of 13 business proposals from 55 students representing The Business School and School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Institute of Management Studies (IMS), Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and The Management School, Kathua Campus of University of Jammu were presented during the Summit. The business proposals were evaluated by independent jury members including Prof Sandeep Kulshrestha, IITTM, Gwalior; Gour Kanji Lal, Executive Director, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and Riju Raj Jamwal, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and National Instructor on River Rafting. M I Parray, Director, JKEDI in his remarks during the valedictory function congratulated all the participating students for demonstrating excellent entrepreneurial skills and welcomed all the students to come forward in availing the incentives of Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for the Youth (SKEWPY). Prof Deepak Raj Gupta, Director, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management in his address said that tourism industry in J& K and at national level requires management professionals who will innovate and transform the tourism industry. Vishal Ray, Assistant Faculty, JKEDI gave a detailed presentation about the details of Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for the Youth.
