| Municipal election 2010 | | Revision of electoral roll an eye wash | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 29: The leaders of Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) have hailed the government decision is holding municipal and local bodies election in the state, but on the other hand have flayed the government for revision of electoral at this stage. Addressing a press conference here today jointly by Dimpy Kohli and Rakesh Kak said that revision of electoral roll at this stage is only an eye wash. They said this process should have been done earlier, so that the process could have been completed in time. Municipal corporation should be given ample time to revise and including the names of missing voters in the electoral list. The election commissioner of J&K had spend huge money for the purchase of software for the electoral list, but we are sorry to say that the name, parentage and address of almost 70% of total electoral are wrong. Even most of the voters are not provided with the new voter identity card without which no one can cast the vote. Moreover if someone approaches the municipality for the form for inclusion of his name in the electoral list he is asked to approach the election commissioner's office and the form are not even available there. And for his voter number in list, one is asked to buy a CD for Rs 200/- to look his name and voter number there. Even there is no other formality asked for to be submitted with the form, this will give chance for bogus voters to get registered and it seems the government has made mockery of the election process. How can there be fair election when everyone is not given a chance to cast their vote. They request the government to take some time and first get the voter list correct and complete and only the fair election can be conducted. |
