Director CA&PD inspects market, fines 8 erring shopkeepers

Srinagar, October 13 –The Market Checking Squad of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution led by Director CA&PD Mr. A.M. Mir conducted market checking at Hari Singh High street Naaz crossing, Mehraj Bazar, Dalgate and Sonwar and take stock of commodities and rates of essentials in these areas here today.
The squad booked 8 erring shopkeepers on spot for non display of rate lists and realized Rs 2900 as fine for violation of Weights and Measures Act. The squad destroyed 2 quintals of rotten vegetables and fruits.
The Director CA&PD has appealed the consumers to purchase the consumer items at the rates fixed by the department.
Meanwhile the Ration card holders of Kashmir valley are informed to draw seven liters of K. oil under Public Distribution System against proper coupons from the concerned k. oil depot holder from the current month.
