| Cong MLA threatens to protest with 25,000 supporters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 29: Even as the state assembly today witnessed a walkout by PDP MLAs and protests by others against the alleged discrimination with their constituencies, former power minister and Congress MLA Mohammad Sharief Niaz threatened to protest against Azad-loyalist and R&B minister G M Saroori if he ignored him while implementing programmes in Bhaderwah. After PDP's walkout, discussion on grants of housing and urban development department, and roads and buildings was in progress when Saroori remarked, "It it was Niaz who had done development in Bhaderwah assembly segment, what Ghulam Nabi Azad did during his chief ministership." Niaz objected to Saroori's remarks and said if Saroori continued ignoring him while implementing certain programmes in Bhaderwah, he would be forced to protest with his 25,000 supporters on the roads. He also threatened to go on hunger strike against the minister. Speaker M A Lone intervened, seeking to pacify both of them. He also asked them to come to his chamber later to sort out the matter. Earlier, MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad said out of the seven road projects in his constituency, not even a single had been taken up so far.He asked why R&B deputy director (planning) was on the same post for the past 15 years. The minister assured him that the needful would be done soon. The Speaker also asked Nazir not to use the language which did not suit his stature.
