| Road connectivity being taken to hamlets having population of 500 : Charak | | | Srinagar, October 13 –The Road and Buildings department have identified 989 villages and hamlets in the state having 500 population for construction of roads under Bharat Nirman Programme and all such villages having no road facilities would be provided road connectivity upto the end of 2009 under this programme. This was stated by Minister for Works Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak while interacting with the people during his tour to Charar-I-Sharief, Bagat-Barzulla and Bemina today to inspect the pace of progress of various developmental projects in these areas. On receiving a public complaint the Minister inspected the repairing work of Rambagh-Charar-I-Sharief road and found that no sub-standard material is being used as complained by the people. However, he directed the concerned Engineers to expedite the repairing work of the road so that people may not suffer. The Minister said that Chadoora-Chara-I-Sharief road would be upgraded and the work on this road would start soon at a cost of Rs. 2.34 crore. He also inspected Rs. 13.33 crore under execution Haj House Bemina and also inspected Bemina bridge which is under execution at a cost of Rs. 10.03 lakh. On the occasion the Minister was informed that the bridge would be completed upto end of 2007 and so far Rs.5.18 crore have been spent on its execution. Besides, the Minister also inspected the macadamization work on Barzulla-Bagat road which is under progress at a cost of Rs. 80 lakh. Chief Engineer R&B Mr. Nazir Ahmed Shah and other senior engineers accompanied by the Minister during his tour.
