| Cricket: Departments of Mathematics, Urdu win ties | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 30: Department of Mathematics and Department of Urdu won their respective matches to move into the next round of cricket tournament of the ongoing Inter-Department Sports Meet of University of Jammu on the campus, here. In the first match of the day, Urdu Department defeated Department of Urdu by a big margin of 83 runs. Batting first after winning the toss, Urdu Department set a target of 170 runs for the loss of for wickets in the allotted 20 overs, which, in reply, Dogri Department could not chase and bowled out for just 86 runs in 12.5 overs. Arshad played superb innings of 65 (off 46 balls, 2x6, 9x4) runs while Ajaz Shah and Raj Kumar contributed 45 and 30 runs respectively. From Dogri Department, Kulwant, Braham and Satish shared one wicket each. Batting second, Dogri Department lost all their wickets for mere 86 runs in 12.5 overs. Ritu Kumar and Rajnish were top scorers with 13 runs each. From Urdu Department, Arshad bowled deadly spell taking away six wickets for 10 runs in three overs while Vicky bagged two. In the second match of the day, Mathematics Department registered a seven wickets win over Department of Statistics. Batting first, Statistics made 101 runs for five in 15 overs, which, in reply, Mathematics chased in 11.4 overs for the loss of three wickets. Today’s matches officiated by Raman Kumar, Pankaj Sasan as umpires while Satpal was scorer.
