JKNPP joins boycott too!
3/30/2010 11:48:08 PM
JAMMU: Following pursuits of the main Opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today also declared to boycott the remaining budget session in protest against the government's "non-seriousness" and "indifferent attitude" towards Opposition parties.
"Not only Opposition parties MLAs are dissatisfied with the coalition's working but the members of ruling parties are unhappy over the performance of the government. The MLAs belonging to the ruling partners have been disrupting the proceedings of the House since last few days but the government has not uttered a single word so far," Harsh Dev Singh, Leader of Panthers Legislature Party told reporters outside the Legislative Assembly here.
"Even the legislators of coalition partners are not being heard by the treasury benches. They have also adopted indifferent approach towards the opposition MLAs," he charged.
Saying that 'when the cat is away the mice will play', Harshdev Singh referred the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's absence from the House and said, "Most of the time the Chief Minister remain absent from the house, as a result ministers don not attend the proceedings of the house. They have adopted a casual approach while responding to the concern shown by the MLAs."
"People would take cognizance of the absence of the Chief Minister from the house," he said, adding "The chief minister should sit in the house and respond the issues being raised by the legislators, especially related to his (CM's) department," the JKNPP leader said.
"Our party MLAs have decided to boycott the House proceedings from today's onwards in protest against non-seriousness of the government," he announced.
Yesterday, Peoples Democratic Party had announced that it would stay away from the remaining budget session in protest against the Chief Minister's "contemptuous, sneering behaviour of the Chief Minister" towards the House and entire Opposition."
