| GCET teachers not to take up exam duty | | 'Demands promotion rules, Sixth Pay Commission' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 30: The Engineering College Teachers' Association (ECTA) today decided to extend its two days protest programme upto April 7, 2010 and not to take up any exam or evaluation duty till the protest period. ECTA has revived its agitation programme for implementation of recruitment rules and granting Sixth Pay Commission to the faculty, suspended following the assurance by the government and held two days strike from March 30 to 31. Addressing the protesting teachers outside Principal GCET's office at Old University campus, Dr. Atula Dhar said that government has paid no heed to their demands for last more than 15 years forcing them to revive and extend their agitational programme. She said that GCET faculty members would not attend any exam related or other duty till April 7. She said that due to non-framing of recruitment rules, the GCET faculty has been the worst sufferers, at a time when all the state government employees are enjoying the benefits of Sixth pay Commission, the faculty of GCET is crying for the implementation of recruitment rules and grant of Sixth Pay Commission. She said it is very unfortunate that only 28 faculty members of GCET, the premier and only state run institution, have not been granted 6th Pay Commission till date. |
