Paper leak scam: 30 pc grace marks sought for meritorious students
3/31/2010 11:51:30 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 31: Alleging a conspiracy to deprive brilliant students of Jammu to get high merit in the 10+2 exams for getting selected to professional courses, the Association of Students Parents has demanded that 30% grace marks should be given to brilliant students, in whose case the original paper was cancelled as a result of leakage of the same.
Addressing a media conference here today Kulbushan Mohtra, President of the Association alleged that some elements in the J&K BOSE are in league with some mysterious elements, to deliberately discriminate against brilliant students from Jammu. He added that the Chemistry papers A & B Botany A & Physics B, were leaked & fresh papers were set up in haste, for only few centers, while in the other centers the students were examined on the original question papers, which were leaked. The fresh papers were difficult and out of course so there was a strong case for giving 30% grace marks in these papers to the students, who were examined on fresh question papers.
Mohtra further alleged that while papers set for students from Kashmir valley were much easier, in case of papers set for Jammu students the same were quite tough. Since separate examinations are held for schools in Jammu & Kashmir, there is no justification for having one school Board for the whole of State.
There should be two separate Boards for Jammu & Kashmir. Mr. Mohtra further charged that some BOSE officials who are themselves involved in leaking of the papers, are shedding crocodile tears, by expressing their concern over this mall practice, in their meeting with the BOSE Chairman. The authorities at the highest level should independently probe the matter . Mr. Mohtra further warned if their demand for granting grace marks as well as though probe and punishment to the guilty is not conceded, the Association will knock at the door of High Court for justice.
