| It was a 'fruitless exercise': JCC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 31: Describing 'All-Party Meet' called by the Chief Minister as "failure" and "fruitless exercise", Joint Consultative Committee-an amalgam of several employees unions spearheading the agitation-today decided to go ahead with its seven days strike commencing from April 5 across the State. The employees have further threatened that if their demands are not fulfilled, they would go on indefinite strike. "All party meet called by the government was a fruitless exercise as all the political parties had vowed to implement sixth pay commission recommendations for government employees in their election manifestoes, besides fulfilling other demands," Abdul Qayoom Wani, senior JCC leader told Early Times. The JCC leader alleged, "Government had sought 10 days time from the employees for redressing their problems but we had given it 15 days. So far they have failed to fulfill our demands and this time we have decided to go ahead with our proposed programme of strike. It may extend to indefinite strike." Regarding the consensus over the meeting of all party delegation with the Prime Minister, Wani said, "They should have met the Prime Minister earlier and it seems to be another move to linger on the genuine demands of the employees." Taking a strong exception of the PDP's absence from the All Party meeting, the JCC leader said, "It was in their election manifesto that all the demands of the employees would be fulfilled. The absence of PDP and other political parties was a political gimmick as they should have pleaded our issues. On one side, they claimed that they are pro-people and pro-employees and on the other they have been playing politics ignoring the genuine issues of the employees."
