Bifurcate PSC, increase points for M.phill and Ph.d exams: NSF

Jammu, Mar 31: Alleging discriminatory attitude towards Jammu students in recent selection of school lecturers, National Secular Forum (NSF) has demanded the bifurcation of Public Service Commission (PSC) for transparency, here today.
Addressing the press conference, Vikas Sharma, President, National Secular Forum (NSF), expressed that meritorious candidates belonging to Jammu region were missing from the final selection lists which were completely dominated by the candidates from Kashmir regions, especially in open category.
Giving details about the selection list of lecturer Urdu out of total 62, only 18 were from Jammu region while 44 were from valley, similarly in Political Science out of total 71, 21only were from jammu region while 50 were from valley; in Statistics out of total 11, only 3 only were from Jammu , in Botany out of total 51, only 19 were from jammu region and same was true for other subjects.
He alleged that blue eyed candidates were being recruited by the PSC at the instance of state govt. causing resentment among the unemployment youth. He said that the selection list of the lecturers in school and higher education department in which much preference has been given to the candidates belonging to the Kashmir regions.
He also said that besides selecting more candidates from Kashmir Valley there were also reports of corruption and nepotism being involved in the selection process.
Pointing towards the Jammu- based MLA, which represents Jammu in the assembly, Sharma said that the MLA has failed to raise the voice of Jammu Youth in assembly against PSC selections lists of the lecturers in different subjects. Sharma demanded 20 points for M.Phil and 30 points for Ph.D degree holders instead of present points of 3 to M.Phil and 5 to Ph.D in PSC interview.
He also demanded separate PSC for Jammu so that genuine candidates could be selected.
Those who were part of the Press conferen included, Vikram Singh, Mohd Maqeem Ansari, Sanjay Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Javed Shah and others.
