| VDC member repulses militant attack | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 01:
Fighting valiantly, a village defence committee (VDC) member Thursday repulsed an attack by militants on his house at Daroti in Kalakote, Rajouri.
Police sources said four to five militants entered Daroti and went to the house of VDC member Raj Kumar. When he did not open the door even after repeated knocks, they opened indiscriminate fire, the sources said.
The VDC member retaliated from inside. Sources said the exchange of fire between the two sides continued for about an hour after which the militants fled. In 2006 also, Raj had survived an attack by militants in his village which left five VDC members dead.
