| Mehbooba represents PDP in Central Delimitation Commission meeting | | | Srinagar, October 13: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Friday participated in the Central Delimation Commission meeting in Delhi which was chaired by Commission Chairman Pranab Mukherjee. Mehbooba Mufti put forth the proposal of creating separate parliamentary constituencies for Leh and Kargil. Talking to KNS Mehbooba said votes in Kargil get divided on communal lines and topographical situation and aspiration of the people of Ladakh region have necessitated the need for creating separate parliamentary constituencies for Leh and kargil. Saying that Ladhak is the biggest region in terms of area and deserves consideration for creation of two separate parliamentary constituencies, Mehbooba stressed for completion of the delimitation commission report before the next parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in the year 2009. Disclosing that She has demand the construction of a road between Panikhar Ladhak to Pahalgam during her meeting with the Central Transport Minister, Mehbooba said the proposal is already under the active consideration of Central Government. She also claimed to have discussed the proposal of Sankoo-Zanskar road with the Central Transport Minister and sought permission for operation of private airlines from ladhak airport during her meeting with Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The Ladhak airport is being controlled by army. She also demanded eviction of Karbatu Plateu and brought to the notice of Defence Minister the complaints of people residing in the vicinity of army's air base at Awantipora.
