| VC of central university | | JBA demands son of soil for the post | | Early Times Report JAMMU, April 1 - The Jammu Bachao Andolan (JBA) has urged/the President of India, Prime Minister and the Governor for appointing a renowned educationist from Jammu region as the first Vice Chancellor of the upcoming Central University in Jammu. In a resolution passed by the Working Committee of the JBA, it was made clear that in no case any outsider or who has already served as Vice Chancellor in any of the Universities in the state be thrust upon the people of Jammu region. They said that it has become a fashion to bring people from JNU to head various Universities in the state, who instead of taking keen interest in academics and research activities, prefer to remain engaged in organizing seminars, thereby harming the studies of the students. They added that this practice need not to be repeated in case of the Jammu Central University. The Convener, JBA, G. L. Sharma made it clears that the first Vice Chancellor should be from Jammu region alone. He added that Jammu has no dearth of talent and any suitable person from this region be given the opportunity to head this University so that set up this centre of higher learning and does not pursue his own agenda and career ambitions.
