| BJP condemns ‘poor facilities’ to its MPs in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 1: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today expressed concern over “poor facilities” being provided to its four Members of Parliament (MPs) visiting Leh in State Legislative Assembly. As soon as the House assembled this morning, Chaman Lal Gupta, Leader of BJP Legislature Party while raising the issue condemned the poor facilities being provided to the party MPs. Showing his concern, the BJP leader said, “Four MPs of BJP who are visiting Leh to assess the on the spot situation after getting the reports that the China has occupied the Indian Territory and have constructed road on it. They are the guests of Jammu and Kashmir and the State Government should provide them residential accommodations, official vehicles and other facilities.” “The delegation has been headed by R P Reddy, who is the former Union Minister and Member of Parliament for fifth term but it is unfortunate the government has not provided them the necessary facilities so far,” Gupta regretted. “I talked to the Deputy Commissioner Leh who told me that the government has not issued any direction regarding facilities for the BJP MPs. It is highly condemnable and the government should be directed in this regard,” Gupta said. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar said, “I have to collect the information and I will look into the matter.” Intervening, Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora said, “There is a set procedure and they should have written to the State Government.” Speaker remarked, “There is a weight in the Minister’s statement. They should have followed the proper procedure and should have written to the Chief Secretary of the State. It is the responsibility of the state government to provide accommodation and vehicles to the MPs and DC is not competent to take such decision.”
