LoC trade aimed at CBM actually funding ultras through Hawala: BJP
4/2/2010 11:11:02 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 2: Voicing his serious concern over the increased infiltration of the highly motivated trained ultras and the spurt in the terror activities especially in Rajouri, Poonch, Kupwara and other areas bordering Pak occupied Kashmir (POK), the former Minister of State for Defence and the leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has observed that this was the direct result of lowering of the guards under internal and external pressures.
Interacting with the activists from border areas of Jammu and Akhnoor, Prof. Gupta pointed out that in an intriguing manner the Mountain Division and other troops were removed even from the strategic places like that of Kalakote and other areas of Rajouri as also from elsewhere, speaks volumes about the pressures under which the security forces are not only being withdrawn but also attempting to be demoralized in a systematic manner. In this regard, he particularly referred to the statement of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, claiming that he was instrumental in getting removed 35,000 troops and bringing to book to those personnel who indulged in violation of Human Rights.
Prof. Gupta said that there were reports about little checking of the goods being brought from PoK in the name of trade and conversion of money into Hawala to finance the ultras. All this is going on in the name of Confidence Building Measures (CBM) which become of hardly any sequence when there is no let up in the cross border terror which is obviously a part of the proxy war launched against India in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan. The first and foremost need is to put a halt on the cross border terror, which has come to be the part of policy of the dispensation in the neighborhood. CBM and cross border terror cannot work together; he asserted and alleged that some elements in J&K with a design are raising the boggy of violation of Human Rights and crying for withdrawal of troops as also their special powers to deal with ultras.
