JU organizes interaction with 'Art Karavan Group' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 3: The University of Jammu(JU) in collaboration with Amar Mahal, Mueseum and Library organised a day long. Interaction with the Art Karavan Group headed by Inder Salim, the son of the soil. Speaking on this occasion Salim said that the Karavan has been open for all the artists, and so called non-artists, who are free to do their kind of work, or collaborate with participating artists or with the local energies. To create spaces for collaborative activities with local artistic talents, the Jammu stage was coordinated and initiated by Jyotsna Singh, Advisor, Amar Mahal , Mueseum and Library. Dr. P S Pathania, Registrar JU in his welcome address, appreciated the role of Karavan and said that Art and Culture sees no boundaries and this is what Karavan speaks for Prof. R.D. Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The group consists of participants from India and abroad namely Jeetin Ranghar (Bangalore), Bhuvanesh Kumar( Bangalore), Gopal Sarma (Assam), Ranjeet Singh ( Patna), Minni Kumari (Patna), Jeevan Behra (Orissa), Pinnaki Mohanty (orissa), Khitish Das (orissa), Sanjay Kumar (Jammu), Greta Mandez (Trinidad & Tabago), Leslie (Germany), Gartrude (Germany), Silke (Germany), Predrag Urosevil (Serbia), Kristian AL- Droubi (Serbia), Priyaoarshini Jonh (Bangalore) , Manola Gayatri (Bangalore), Ondi Mavmaster (Newyork), Katalin Lengyel (Hungry), Roman Storchak ( Ukrainne), Iryna Ischuk (Ukrainne), Carol Hummel (USA) Anna Macleog (Ireland). Prof. Anita Billawria and Dr. Poonam Choudhary gave their power point presentation on Art, Culture, History & Heritage of the region while a Photo presentation about the Cultural & Literary activities of the University was also screened. A thought provoking Skit entitled "Three Idiot Babas" presented by Sarang Vaid, Vikash Sharma, Rizvan, Azhar Jawad Hashmi, Ankita Gupta and Meenakshi Anand, all Students of the University, was highly appreciated. On the occasion Artists of Karavan performed contemporary dances from Ukrainne and Trinidad & Tabago. The participant from Ireland gave wonderful presentation on Water Conservation Project. In the honour of 'Art Kaarvan' acclaimed Dogri play 'Bawa Jitto' at Gen. Zorawar Singh Auditorium. The play has been critically acclaimed as one of the most creative theatre work produced in the country during the post. The Karkan singers Girdhari Lal and Harbans Lal who are the repositories of our narrative traditions gave engrossing performances. The lights were designed and executed by Suraj Ganjoo and Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show.
