| Woman arrested for running abortion clinic | | |

JAMMU, Apr 3: A retired health worker, allegedly running an abortion clinic at Akhnoor, about 23 km from here, was today arrested by police for her alleged act of carrying out female foeticides.
Police raided the clinic of Surinder Kampaini, which she was running in a rented building in Ward No 6 of Akhnoor, and arrested her. Police sources said she was running the abortion clinic after her
retirement about five to six years back. She charged between 5,000-10,000 rupees for each abortion, the sources added.
At least eight women were also found in her clinic at the time of the police raid. All of them had come for the selective sex abortion.
The women were admitted to hospital.A case stands registered against Surinder under relevant sections of law. She originally hails from Abrol Nagar in Pathankote.
