EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 3: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today said that the new S. P. Museum, Srinagar would be thrown open for public as soon as the interior designing and display work of artifacts on modern lines is completed. He said that in this regard design consultants are being engaged, adding that the Museum would be made fully functional upto October this year. The Minister was replying to a question by M Y Taing, in the Legislative Council. Giving details about the newly constructed Museum, Jora said that the structure on new Museum building, is having 97, 000 sft built up area, consisting of 4 floors plus attic, 11-spacious exhibition galleries, storage spaces, Museum library, Museum shop, conservation laboratory, seminar/conference room, students activity centre, 2-lifts with air conditioning facilities, public convenience, independent electric sub-station, parking facilities besides the building is fire resistant, damp proof and designed to withstand the natural calamities like earthquake.
