| BJP ridicules coalition working | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 4: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today ridiculed the functioning of the Congress-National Conference coalition, saying "the National Conference leaders are carrying their agenda forward on "communal" and "separatist" outlook while the Congress has no Kashmir policy." Addressing a large gathering at Jawahar Nagar here in his Jammu West Assembly constituency, Chaman Lal Gupta, the leader of the BJP Legislature Party, alleged the Congress is interested only to sticking to power as result of which the national interests are being endangered and the discrimination against Jammu is going on. "Contrary to the claims of progress and prosperity, the ground realities are that even the basic needs like that of drinking water, electricity, unemployment, anarchy in the supply of rations and so many other problems are persisting even in this capital city, not to say of the rural and far flung areas," the BJP leader alleged. He further alleged, "All this was because of growing corruption and misuse of central funds, he added and pointed out that even after spending of lakhs of crores funded by the Centre, the State is not in a position to pay the salaries to its staff and wages to the workers resulting in Hartals, anti-Government demonstrations and flood of Dharnas and various types of agitations." The BJP leader observed, "The National Conference is operating under a plan to distance this State from rest of the country and attain that status of pre-1953, but the Congress has opted for the role of playing second fiddle and that of B team." Gupta particularly referred to the introduction of a bill in the Upper House seeking to deprive the fair sex from their citizenship rights if any girl marries with a non-State Subject, attempts to deprive the scheduled castes of their due under the plea of banning inter district recruitments, making a mockery of the basic democracies and putting a ban on Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies as also number of other measures which go against the interests of the people and that of the unity of the country. He said that the unemployment was increasing because of the missing of Industrial growth, which could not be possible in the presence of Article 370 and separate Constitution of the State.
