Tara Chand, Slathia pay tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram

JAMMU, Apr 4: Paying glowing tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Late Babu Jagjivan Ram at his birth anniversary, the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has said that the best way to pay homage to the Late leader was to follow his principles and mission for upliftment of weaker sections of the society.
The Deputy Chief Minister was the chief guest at a function organized by Gandhi Global Family as a part of 102nd Birth anniversary of Late Babu Jagjeevan Ram at Swankha 30 Kms away from Jammu, today. The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Surjeet Singh Salathia presided over the function.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that during "Quit India Movement" in 1942, Late Babu Jagjeevan Ram alongwith Mahata Gandhi struggled through non-violence, for independence of the Country. He said the Babu Ram fought for the cause of social justice ever since his School days and continued to fight throughout his life for a better deal to the under privileged.
The Deputy Chief Minister said most of the developmental and welfare projects launched during Azad's tenure have been completed by the coalition Government and work on leftover projects is going on speedly.
The Minister for Industries and Commerce also paid rich tributes to Late Babu Jagjeevan Ram and threw light on various facets of the life of the late leader. Slathia said late Babu Ji has worked all along his life for the welfare of the down trodden people. He said late Babu Jagjeevan Ram was born in a poor family. He said the late leader had a track record of serving as a Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the Central Cabinet for 31 years and successfully met the challenges of nation building.
On the occasion State President, Gandhi Global Family S.P Verma, Labha Ram Gandhi and others paid tributes to the former Prime Minister Late Babu Jagjeevan Ram and pleged to work for the welfare of the down trodden people and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Industries and Commerce distributed Awards and Certificates to Suchet Singh, Labha Ram Gandhi, Madan Lal Chalotara, Capt. Hari Chand, Khaidam Hussain, Bharat Bushan Verma, Pran Ditta, J.P Singh Adviocate, Tara Chand, Mr, B.R Kundal Advocate, Bodh Raj Rao, Dr. Sat Pal, Badhar Mal, Vaishno Dogra, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Mrs. Shanno Devi, Thakur Chajju Singh, S. Mela Singh, Prem Lal, Pt Ved Parkash and Advocate Mohd. Anwar Choudhary for their contribution towards civil society under the progranmme Sadhvabana -ke -Sipahi.
A memento for Speaker Lok Sabha Meera Kumar who is the daughter of the Former Deputy Prime Minister Late Jagjivan Ram was also presented through the Deputy Chief Minister on the occasion.
